Music has always been an essential part of the New Dutch Wave. In collaboration with Dutch Music Export, well-known music venues, and festival organizers from the Netherlands, unforgettable performances and parties have been organized in our country house. Artists such as Iguana Death Cult, Pip Blom, and Naaz have amazed the audience with their unique sound and managed to impress them.

This year SXSW Music has asked, New Dutch Wave and Dutch Music Export to nominate two talents who are ready to conquer the American music scene. We proudly present you to Nana Adjoa and Altin Gün. Recorded in one of the best-known venues of the Netherlands, Melkweg Amsterdam.

Find below Nana Adjoa’s SXSW showcase and two video snippets of both their ESNS showcases of Januari 2021.

Altin Gün

Amsterdam’s Altin Gün have built a strong reputation for fusing past and present to make brilliantly catchy, upbeat pop music, as seen with their Grammy-nominated second album, Gece. Yol, their third album in as many years, continues that trend; while unveiling a number of sonic surprises. It should be no surprise to learn that the band again draws from the rich and incredibly diverse traditions of Anatolian and Turkish folk music. But however familiar the story, Yol is not just a record that reframes traditional sounds for a contemporary audience.

Nana Adjoa

Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter Nana Adjoa is a sonic explorer, armed with a deft poeticism and a fierce sense of musicianship. Behind the multi-instrumentalist’s bold approach to songwriting is an unflinching sense of curiosity and an openness to endless possibility.
